driving with the hubs locked while in 2WD is ok. you will NOT do any damage to the front driveline. Leaving them locked so you don't have to climb in and out if you plan on using the 4wd off and on while wheeling is perfectly fine. For everyday driving then yes, unlock the hubs to save on gas mileage. Why are manual locking hubs better?

Aug 08, 2004 · You cannot compare 2wd truck and a 4wd because a 2wd doesn't have a transfer case. If you are trying to engage 4lo with rolling 2-3 mph put the trans in neutral while moving b4 you try switching to low and see if it helps. I've done it to mine and it works well.

Oct 17, 2021 · You could put the 4wd splined hub on a 2wd and it wouldn't matter, the spline just goes unused. The opposite however, could not be done.no spline on a 4wd means no fit.
