On occations while driving my engine will suddenly "cuts off" (it does not sputter, it just shuts of, it almost seems to be electrical cut off. ) When I pull over and put it in park, the engine will start back up. It's dangerous. Now when this happened a couple years ago it turned out to be the fuel heater pad at the bottom of the fuel filter.

Mar 07, 2009 · My 1996 f250 7.3l turbo diesel shuts off while driving and will not restart. After 1-2 hours later it starts w/o a problem. drive down the road @30 minutes, shuts down again. replaced fuel pump, no change, has new cmp sensor, new fuel filter, recent oil change. when running, runs great, no power loss.

Since a diesel runs without a spark to ignite the gas, the only reason for it to not run is if its not getting any gas, first check to see if the fuel pump is still functioning, if it is then your injectors are not squirting fuel into the cylinders at which point you either have shot injectors, the wiring from the injectors
