You should still be able to close the trunk even if the fob was in the cabin. For laughs, open the trunk and move all fobs 20' away, then try to close the trunk with them far away. Trunk won't close problem started when weather was very cold ( 0 - 10 degrees ), after it warmed up in garage it would close. Then the door locks and trunk would not operate correctly. The remote start didn't want to work, then it did then it wouldn't.
